When you Book Qatar Airways flights, the airline permits you to carry three types of luggage free of cost. It is the part of airline’s commitment to making passenger travel safe, hassle-free and convenient. Therefore, the types of baggage you can carry with Qatar Airways include;
1. Checked in luggage.
2. Carry on baggage.
3. Secondary bag.
Checked in luggage:
Checked-in luggage is only to be stored inside the specific storage compartment of the aircraft. Therefore, it is only accessible either during the boarding phase or when you arrive at your destination. Usually, the checked-in baggage allowance is higher than the carry-on luggage allowance.
Economy Class
For the majority of economy class seat types, Qatar Airways offers at least one free checked bag. It can have a maximum weight of 23 kilograms (around 50 pounds) to 30 kilograms (approximately 66 pounds). As far as the size of this baggage is considered; based on linear dimensions i.e., the sum of the length, width, and height of the bag, it should fall within the 158-300 centimetres (or 62-118 inches) limit.
Business Class
Business Class passengers often have a more generous baggage allowance as compared to economy class travellers. They can carry up to two bags free of cost with a maximum weight ranging from 30 kilograms (about 66 pounds) to 40 kilograms (approximately 88 pounds) on average, per bag. The dimensions of the baggage are the same as that of economy class.
First Class
The highest baggage allowance is for first-class travellers with a weight limit ranging from 40 kilograms (around 88 pounds) to 50 kilograms (approximately 110 pounds) per bag. Usually, multiple bags are available to be carried free of cost by first-class passengers.
Carry-on luggage:
The carry-on luggage allowance remains standardized for all of the travel classes of Qatar Airways. It usually includes a bag with a maximum weight limit of around 7 kilograms (approximately 15 pounds) and dimensions around (50 x 37 x 25 centimetres) or (20 x 15 x 10 inches).
While it is advisable to carry only one piece of carry-on luggage, some higher-fare classes can permit you to carry more than one bag for the cabin luggage as well. However, the weight and size restrictions per bag remain the same.
Secondary bag:
Lastly, in addition to the cabin luggage, passengers of Qatar Airways can also carry a secondary bag with a size and weight limit of less than that of the carry-on luggage. So that it easily fits under the seat in front of you. it can be in the form of a small backpack, briefcase, laptop bag or purse.
If you are carrying a baby on board, you can also carry a bag consisting of supplies for the baby without any additional cost. Such as baby food, clothing, diapers, medicines, etc.
You must only carry the items that are permissible as per the airline policies. For any prohibited goods or rare items, you must possess a proper certificate and/or permission to carry them.
So, on average, you get to carry three types of luggage with Qatar Airways flights on most of its routes and destinations. If you want additional Qatar Airways baggage allowance, you can purchase it in advance as well as at the airport counter during the check-in phase.
