PULLEN PARK 

Raleigh’s Pullen Park, which is close to NC State University, is a popular destination for families. William B. Umstead State Park

DOROTHEA DIX PARK

Situated about five minutes south of Raleigh’s downtown, 300+ acres make up Dorothea Dix Park, the city’s largest park. MORDECAI HISTORIC PARK

Mordecai Historic Park, historically the largest plantation in Wake County, is located in downtown Raleigh on N Person Street. The park is home to the 17th President Andrew Johnson’s birthplace, the Mordecai Historic House, Raleigh’s oldest dwelling. The Visitor Centre welcomes guests and provides meeting rooms, gift shops, park information, and tour tickets. At the northernmost point of N Person Street is the park.

LAKE JOHNSON PARK 

Residents and students from Western universities frequently visit Lake Johnson, which is close to NC State University. At the boathouse, guests can hire kayaks, canoes, sunfish sailboats, jon boats, and stand-up paddle boards. They can also fish from the 700-foot-long boardwalk that spans the lake.

MOORE SQUARE PARK

Historically used for gatherings, introspection, entertainment, and leisure, Moore Square is a four-acre urban green space in Raleigh that dates back to 1792. This quaint blend of old and new was once found in one of five public open spots. The plaza has a sizable open lawn, oak trees, a shaded ‘tree house’ area, 30-foot-wide footpaths, and a modest splash pad for kids to utilize in the warmer months.

LAKE CRABTREE COUNTY PARK

The Lake Trail, a six-mile loop around Raleigh’s 520-acre lake, is popular with both hikers and mountain bikers.
